• Question: Will the sun ever blow up or any other planets?

      Yes! In about 4 billion years our sun will being to burn out. When it does this it will expand hundreds of times its current size, and engulf all of the small, rocky planets, including Earth, Mars, Mercury and Venus. It will stay like that, as a ‘Red Giant’ for a while (million of years) and then probably collapse into a ‘White Dwarf’, then a ‘Black Dwarf’ as it stops shining.

      The bigger planets of our solar system, called the Gas Giants won’t be affected by implosion too much but will certainly be affected as the Sun gradually loses mass and therefor its gravity. They will just drift off into oblivion…
