University of Birmingham – PhD in Metalllurgy: 2014 – Now. De Montfort University – Degree in Forensic Science: 2011 – 2014

Qualifications:
Degree in Forensic Science, A-levels in Biology, Geography and Business. GCSEs in 13 subjects

Work History:
I have carried out research experiments, been an awful shop assistant, bar maid, lab demonstrator and waitress.

Current Job:
PhD research student

My Typical Day:
II spend lots of time working on metals; I polish them so there are no scratches, test how strong they are and look using a microscope to see what it looks like up close. I then check my emails and drink lots of tea and help students in labs sometimes.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would spend it on bits and bobs which can be used to make school visits more interesting. The goody bag would include items including fingerprinting kits (like CSI), mini microscopes and some fun science based games!

Were you ever in trouble at school?
Not often. Sometimes I forgot to do my homework and would spend the whole lesson waiting to be told off!
Who is your favourite singer or band?
I love Taylor Swift!
What's your favourite food?
Cheese! The more cheese the better.
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
To be happy, healthy and to have a time watch so I never run out of time.
