• Question: why are the clouds white

      Hey Megan,

      Clouds are white because of the same reason why the sky is blue – it is all down to how the tiny particles in the cloud scatter light as it travels through them. The water and ice droplets inside clouds are big enough to scatter light from all different parts of the spectrum (so all different colours). When you put all of the colours of the rainbow together, you get white light, so this is why clouds look white. Maybe if you changed the size of these water and ice particles you would get different colours? I think a green cloud would be pretty cool…
