Great question! I have a huge list of great scientists.

I wouldn’t consider myself great at all! And science is by no means a competition. Everyone does their best job. 🙂

But if I had to chose only one person who had a huge impact in my opinion, it would have to be Carl Sagan. He explained space science and astronomy so brilliantly in his TV series, the Cosmos, that I still get goosebumps when I watch it to this day.

I think every contribution by every scientist is important and great and my choice is only personal for the impact it had on me. Science is great because every scientist that follows the rules of science properly is a great scientist!

This is a really good question – who’s yours (other than myself 😛 )?!

I like many different scientists for many different reasons. I am a huge fan of Alan Turing – have you heard of him? He was a computer scientist and mathematician who helped win World War II by cracking German codes. Sadly, he was not recognised for his hard work because he was different. I also like Rosalind Franklin, who helped discover DNA and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell who discovered pulsar stars. Both of these women also weren’t congratulated for their amazing work at the time, which is a real shame. Thankfully, we all think very highly of these three people’s fantastic achievements.

What we should learn from these people is that sometimes people won’t appreciate the work that we do for many different reasons, but we must try our best and work our hardest to achieve things for ourselves. Eventually people will come round and realise what fantastic things we have achieved! Never lose hope and keep going for it 🙂
