I was neither popular nor unpopular at school, I managed to get by with my friends pretty unnoticed!

I don’t think I’ve ever been popular with everyone (this definitely isn’t possible), I used to worry about how popular I was in school.

If I was to talk to my younger self now, I’d say that close friends are what you really need, not likes or popularity! If you focus on how popular you are, you stop thinking about whether you’re enjoying your time and you don’t have fun!

Scientists are from all walks of life and very different backgrounds, remember that we’re just like everybody else! You can be interested in science and also be whatever else you want to be.

I suppose I was average. I didn’t care too much about being popular, but I was naturally friends many groups of people because I found it interesting to have lots of views! I guess I was being a bit of a social scientist?! 😉
