You will already know what drugs taste like! Drugs don’t just include harmful drugs of abuse, but medicines that we take for everything from having a headache to drugs used to treat cancer or heart disease.

Sometimes, drugs can have an unpleasant taste. Usually this is OK if you’re only taking a drug some of the time, like to get rid of a headache – you can probably put up with the taste if it’s only a one-off. For people who are taking a lot of drugs every day (like people who might have cancer), an unpleasant taste of a drug can be quite uncomfortable. In this case, the scientists who make the drug might try to make improvements to it, in order to make the taste more bearable.
