A rocket starts off slowly and eventually reaches speeds of 28,000 kilometres an hour so that it can reach Earth’s orbit, that’s 5 miles a second!! To completely escape it though, it needs to travel at 7 miles a second, that’s why rockets are so big and need fuel that burns really fast, to get enough speed. It’s not rocket science.
