The brain is very complicated, it is a connected network of cells called ‘neurons’, which are supported by other cells called ‘glia’, they feed the neurons and keep them healthy. Neurons live as long as you do and they make connection to each other through ‘synapses’ where a signal (thought or memory) is passed on to the next cell and so on.

Thoughts and memories are thought to be encoded by groups of neurons signalling to each other. When you make a new memory, a new group of neurons are connected together in a unique way. That’s a very simple explanation, the brain is extremely complicated!

A brain tumour can be anywhere in your brain, and it can originate from the growth and division of neurons or glia.
