The Sun is always in the same place in space, millions of miles from Earth. It doesn’t actually move in the sky, the Earth is spinning (like you can spin a ball on a table).

When our side of the Earth is facing the Sun, the Sun is said to be ‘up’ in the sky – daytime! When the Sun is ‘down’ on our side of the Earth (night time), it is ‘up’ on the opposite side of the Earth (around Australia).
