If I’m being honest, I really wasn’t much into science when I started out in school. I found it interesting but I also found physics completely impossible and chemistry was also very scary. I was much more suited to languages.
I was then forced to choose one science for Scottish Standard Grades (like GCSEs) and I chose chemistry. I really struggled with it for a good few months until one day, something just clicked and I really felt like I understood things quite well, so I continued with it throughout high school. In my final year, I did a “crash course” in human biology and really loved that as well, so I applied to go to uni to do medicinal chemistry (basically learning how to make new drugs), which I thought would be a good mix of the two subjects! I learned quite quickly that chemistry probably wasn’t for me so I chose to continue with biology and I’ve been doing it ever since 🙂
