      Hi Nell,

Yes, of course, everything needs to be interactive and fun! For younger people I think it is especially hard to just listen and understand. Colouring sheets would be good or making plasticine models of cells and molecules. But I’d like to actually bring something from the lab with me, possibly grow bacteria on a dish that glows, or a mouse brain that glows in certain places. I want to make sure people are as excited by science as I am!

      Hi Nell,

Yes absolutely! we find the best way to get people to understand what we are talking about is to involve them directly. We do this by bringing in some of our sea creatures, so people can see what we are studying. Another way is to take them on a video journey through a “day in the life of a marine biologist”, this shows a short clip of the variety of work that is carried out. For the younger children, it’g great to give them involved in creative ways, like Rob says through colouring, word searches, montages, painting and even phone apps!
