      We didn’t evolve from chimps or monkeys, we have evolved alongside them from a common species, a very long time ago.

      Roughly 7 million years ago a species (let’s call is species X) existed that is the last link between chimpanzees and us (chimps are technically apes and not monkeys) – a new species split off from species X and then we split off 200,000 years ago.
