      This is a tricky question!

The reason the Earth got its tilt in the beginning is down to how the Earth (and other planets, too) was made. Over many years, small bits of dust and gas started sticking together to form small lumps of rock. Over more time, these bits of rock smashed together, to form bigger pieces of rock that started to look a bit like planets, like Earth. We think that one big collision between two (or more) larger bits of rock is what knocked the Earth into tilting on its axis. It’s been spinning on its axis at a tilted angle of about 23 degrees ever since! The Earth’s tilt is what leads us to having different seasons throughout the year.

I hope this answers your question!
      Ross 🙂
