A brain cell is part of a network with many thousands of other brain cells that send signals between each other through ‘synapses’, which are places where two brain cells connect. They’re a bit like wires in a circuit. And each circuit is thought to relate to a memory, the act of thinking and more!

If one brain cell dies then the network doesn’t work as it used to. It could lead to the loss of a memory if it’s from that part of the brain, or loss of other functions.
